Prof. Shukai Duan

Shukai Duan is the Dean and Professor of the College of Artificial Intelligence, Southwest University, Chongqing, China. He is also the Director of National Local Joint Engineering Laboratory of Intelligent Transmission and Control Technology, the Director of the Key Laboratory of Brain-Like Computing and Intelligent Control in Chongqing, and the Deputy Director of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Education Special Committee of China Automation Society.

Prof. Duan got his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science in 2006 from Chongqing University, China. After that, he has made pioneering contributions to the field of artificial intelligence. His research focuses on the memristor, artificial neural networks, brain-like intelligent chips, etc. He has published 4 books and more than 300 research papers in Nature Communications, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, IEEE Transactions on VLSI Systems, etc. He serves as Associate Editor for a few famous international journals in artificial intelligence IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, Artificial Intelligence Review, Neurocomputing, Automation Journal. In 2020, he got the "Outstanding Associate Editor of 2020" for his outstanding contribution to the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems. He has taken charge of a national key R&D plan and more than twenty national, provincial, or ministry-level research projects, including National Key Research and Development Project, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and the Program for New Century Excellent Talents from Ministry of Education. He has been distinguished Visiting Professor in several world-leading universities such as the University of Michigan, USA, the University of Windsor, Canada, the University of Texas, Qatar, and the City University, Hong Kong. He has organized many international academic conferences and served as General Chair, co-chair, Program Chair, Program Co-Chair, Publicity Chair, etc. He also held over 10 patents, and has given numerous keynote speeches and invited talks, chaired several conferences.
